This is the first ever post of The Bog Blog, a BYU blog. This is my blog and I am Barry Dylan (that is not my real name). I want to write about and discuss slick stuff with people like myself, at the BYU. That is my intention with this thing here,
To preface, I am a student here at the BYU. I love the BYU, it's a great place and a wonderful university. My major is an engaging one, it is something I love but there is not much room for creativity in it. I would not call myself a Creative but I do like many things and I enjoy discussing those things with other people. I want a space to do something other than my major and have fun with that. So I figured I could do something like a blog, because I’ve never read a blog before. Some of the things I love are as follows….
- Steely Dan
- Fyodor Dostoyevsky
- Selvedge Denim
- The Grateful Dead
- Stanley Kubrick
- Backpacking
- Olive oil
- Kettle Bells
- Sitting in the Sauna
- Griselda
- Alan Watts
(If you like some of these things too, please “follow” this blog. I’m not sure exactly what “follow" means in a blog context but just interact with it a bit.)
These are but a few things however they are some simple, chill things I like. I don’t pretend to be a real niche guy or a gatekeeper. I just want some other people to talk to about these things and also things I don't really know. I also strongly dislike short form media (yet my brain is still addicted to the dopamine I get from scrolling) and have always thought blogs were cool. So this is kinda a reaction to all that stuff. The name was thought up of on the fly and has no meaning at all whatsoever. It is not a commentary on anything but simply a name with a tiny bit of alliteration. I must also add this: please excuse the low production quality of this blog at the start. I am still figuring it out.
This is really post #0 because it is very introductory, I feel I’ll have a bit more structure in normal posts. I have chosen to stay anonymous as being vulnerable on the digital marketplace especially when discussing things that are very near and dear to your heart (like the music of Donald Fagen and Walter becker is to mine) can be quite scary. So feel free to leave nice comments and discuss anonymously as well.
sincerely,
B.D.
